Description
Maryam is a Karachi-based self-taught abstract painter. Her medium is primarily acrylic on canvas and explores depth, emotion, and the unsaid through layered textures and colour. Her paintings invite viewers to engage with their own awareness and inner lives, which is why abstraction offers such powerful freedom of expression. Her art is a personal exploration of the human condition, guided more by movement, mood, and memory than by predefined forms. Rooted in intuition and inquiry, her work reflects an organic and introspective creative process. Despite being self-taught, her dedication and distinctive visual language have earned her recognition within the local art community. Her work has been showcased in multiple group exhibitions and has also been recognized by the Sindh Cultural Department. Internationally, her work was showcased at Art Fait Gallery in London, where she won an art contest organized by the gallery. This achievement earned her a featured spot in their 3D virtual gallery. Separately, her work was exhibited for two days and live-streamed to 57 Islamic chambers worldwide, primarily across Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
